Saashi Ghaie
Hi everyone, I’m excited to run for the role of General Executive Committee Member of Surgical Society!
As a subcommittee member of iPRAS and CardioSoc, I’ve helped organise large-scale events including the EIP and RTS Conferences, as well as Microsurgery and Paediatrics. This involved liaising with consultants, coordinating workshops, and supporting sponsorship - skills that have given me a clear understanding of what it takes to deliver high quality events.
This year, we’ve all seen how saturated the conference space has become - so the focus should be on how to make our conferences and skills days stand out.
If elected, I would focus on:
- Increasing international speaker engagement
- SurgSoc mentorship scheme, creating clearer routes into academic research
- Fewer repetitive basic suturing sessions, and more advanced, high-quality workshops
With my experience and enthusiasm for surgery, I would love the opportunity to strengthen the SurgSoc community.
