Varun Srirambhatla
Hi Everyone,
I'm Varun, a second-year medical student, and I'm excited to be running for the role of Executive Committee Member thie year! After getting involved with several SurgSoc events this year, I'm keen to take on a more active role in the society.
This year, I was a graphic designer for the Trauma Conference, creating the sponsorship document, delegates’ handbook, and the entire website. I also helped run the event on the day through photography, transporting materials, and organising food orders for delegates and speakers. After the conference, I wanted to stay involved, and continued helping with other events as SurgSoc subcommittee. This included calculating, ordering, and organising catering for the Orthopaedics Conference. These experiences gave me a strong appreciation of the work that goes on behind the scenes to run successful events.
If I am elected, my goals are to:
- Expand hands-on opportunities - I really enjoyed using the surgical robots at the Hamlyn Centre on my Horizons programme, and I'd like to make this something that more medical students could try out.
- Strengthen event identity – using my experience in graphic design, website design, and event planning to improve the quality of society events.
- Support high-quality conferences and workshops – contributing to the behind-the-scenes work that makes large events run smoothly.
I’m hardworking, reliable, and happy to contribute wherever needed. SurgSoc runs the most exciting events at Imperial, and I’d love the opportunity to help develop them further.
Thank you for your support!
