Arzeen Khan
Hello everyone, I’m Arzeen Khan. Through various surgical attachments and my role as Fresher Representative for Surgical Society, I have developed a strong interest in surgery alongside practical experience in conference organisation. I promoted Surgical Society events, including the Orthopaedics Conference and Plastics Skills Day, while serving as a group lead to ensure their smooth delivery. As Speaker Representative for Cardiovascular Society, I arranged most of the speakers and panellists and coordinated the workshops, contributing to a successful event. Together, these experiences have equipped me with the organisational, leadership, and coordination skills essential to successfully leading a conference next year as General Executive.
I understand what works, what should be better, and most importantly I am able to liaise with the students to identify their needs. If elected, I will:
- Launch a structured suturing series, beginning with a free taster session to attract students who may be interested in surgery, which will increase participation in our conference.
- Re-introduce the mentorship programme, connecting you with registrars for potential research opportunities and tailored guidance on navigating the competitive surgical pathway.
- Expand conference accessibility and collaboration by formally inviting sixth form students and external universities to our conferences.
- Create a centralised surgical events calendar so you never miss valuable opportunities.
- Act on your feedback, e.g. extending workshop time to allow deeper understanding of demonstrations and more meaningful hands-on practice.
If you want a General Executive who is experienced, proactive, and focused on delivering real improvements, you need to vote for Arzeen Khan.
