Hey everyone! I’m Kyleen and I am excited to be your Executive Committee Member.
As sponsorship officer and founding member of ICSM Orthopaedics society, I understand the challenges of launching and running a society. From endless battles with Union to building a new network of supporting surgeons for our well-received inaugural networking event despite no funding, it made me embrace the hurdles and grow an appreciation for the successfully run Surgical Society events in the past. Foundation Skills In Surgery was the event that solidified my interest in surgery. Given the immense gratification I felt whilst suturing, I can only imagine the rewarding experience of organising such a well-run event.
As Head of Outreach at ICSM Cardiovascular society, I recognise the importance of external and internal ICSM partnerships in broadening societal reach, seamless logistics and event engagement. Representing ICSM within PRASSA UK and being a regular delegate of external student-led surgical conferences have allowed me to foster long-lasting relationships with national corporations, leading surgeons and like-minded academics at other medical schools.
Practicing sutures on Da Vinci Robot at the Bart’s cardiothoracic workshop, I will use my established connections and logistical knowledge to enrich our community with the robotic surgical experiences we deserve. Therefore, I hope to transform my passion for surgery, experience in event management and skills in collaborative communication into having a tangible impact within the ICSM community, and that starts with organising such life-changing events, on behalf of Surgical Society.
Thank you and see you at AGM! :)
