Student Trustee

Hi everyone, I’m Szymon KwidziƄski, a second-year student studying Economics, Finance and Data Science, and I’m running to be a Student Trustee.

I’m applying because I care about how the Union is run — not just what it promises. A Trustee role is about good governance, clear decision-making, and making sure student money and priorities are handled responsibly.

Why me?

I’m currently the President and a Trustee of a registered charity in the UK — the Federation of Polish Student Societies in the UK. In that role, I’ve had hands-on experience with:

  • governance and accountability (making sure decisions are properly documented and responsible)

  • budgets and oversight (keeping spending aligned with priorities)

  • representing a community (listening, communicating clearly, and balancing different needs)

What I’ll focus on as a Student Trustee

1) Responsible use of student resources

Students should feel confident that Union funding is used wisely, transparently, and with real benefit.

2) Clear accountability and transparency

I’ll support decisions that are well-explained, well-recorded, and easy for students to understand.

3) The student experience first

Whether it’s support services, clubs and societies, or big strategic decisions, I’ll consistently ask: does this make students’ lives better in a real way?

4) Strong representation, calm judgement

I’ll bring a balanced approach: listening carefully, asking the right questions, and speaking up when it matters.

If you want a Trustee who already understands governance from the inside, and who will take the responsibility seriously, I’d really appreciate your vote.
