Hi, I'm Aidan and I'm running to be one of your Student Trustees.
As President of DoCSoc, Director of IC Hack, CGCU Clubs & Societies Chair, and a Course Rep, I've seen how the Union works from multiple angles. I've also attended Union Council regularly - even without a vote - because governance matters and students deserve people on the Board who actually pay attention.
These will be my priorities if you elect me:
Make the Union easier to engage with.
- Use Board oversight to ensure student complaints and feedback are being followed up - not lost
- Hold the Union accountable for creating simpler, clearer processes for raising issues
Open up how decisions are made.
- Push for accessible summaries of Board and committee decisions so students understand what's being decided and why
- Scrutinise the Union's financial performance - including its commercial activities - so students can see where their money goes
- Challenge unnecessary procedural barriers that discourage participation in governance
Help students find support before crisis point.
- Ensure the Union's budget reflects a commitment to proactively promoting hardship funding and wellbeing services
- Use the Board's strategic role to push for better visibility of support during exam and coursework pressure
I've spent three years seeing how the Union works from the inside and out. I want to bring that to the Board and make sure it's working for everyone - not just the people already in the room.
