Aayan Qaisar – Candidate for Student Trustee

I’m Aayan Qaisar, a first-year Biomedical Science and Management student, running for Student Trustee to ensure the Union’s decisions reflect the diverse experiences of Imperial students.

Imperial is home to an incredible international community, but many students have shared with me that adapting to a new country, culture, and academic environment can be challenging. These perspectives deserve to be heard where important decisions about the Union’s priorities and strategy are made.

As Student Trustee, I will focus on:

  • Representing diverse student voices – ensuring the experiences of international, postgraduate, and underrepresented students are considered in Trustee Board discussions.
  • Responsible governance – helping ensure the Union manages its finances, policies, and risks carefully, transparently, and in the best interests of students.
  • Listening and collaboration – engaging with students across departments, societies, and communities so decisions reflect real student experiences.

My previous experiences as a student representative and school prefect taught me the importance of representing others fairly and responsibly. Working in a care home and as a youth tennis coach also strengthened my ability to communicate, support others, and work collaboratively with people from different backgrounds.

My studies in Biomedical Science and Management equip me to approach governance analytically — assessing evidence, scrutinising decisions, and ensuring responsible oversight of Union policies and finances.

I aim to be approachable, open to conversation, and committed to ensuring the Union works for all students.

Vote Aayan Qaisar for Student Trustee.
