Hello everyone! My name is Hannah Liu, and I'm an MSc student in the Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovation programme. Since the autumn term, I have served as the Postgraduate Taught Representation Chair and the Postgraduate Academic and Welfare Officer for Engineering, and during my time on Union Council, I have noticed that many of the changes students want require advocacy at the trustee level. Because of this, I hope to become your next Student Trustee so that I can help integrate student needs into the Union Strategic Plan and Imperial's general goals.
My aims include:
1. Continue urging UKRI to increase London PhD weighting. Previous Officer Trustees have worked to identify the problem, and in my term, I hope to translate their findings into tangible outcomes by advocating for Imperial to allocate a larger portion of its budget to support PhD students.
2. Facilitate financial partnerships that represent inclusive values. Working with the Board of Trustees, I hope to lead a re-evaluation of Imperial College London's current partnerships and advocate for alternatives that align with the university's values in diversity and inclusion.
3. Collaborate with Officer Trustees to create more robust international student resources. As an international student myself, I know the obstacles we face in acclimating to life at Imperial are immense. Alongside the OTs, I will work on fine-tuning existing resources to integrate feedback I have received since the beginning of the school year (ie. addressing CAS/visa delays, bolstering support services during geopolitical conflicts, etc).
