Hello,
I am Stef - a penultimate year chemist, currently completing a placement year at AstraZeneca.
I am thrilled to be running for Student Trustee!
I have held multiple leadership roles within the Union, from Faculty Welfare representative to the Chair of Sports Sector. I have also worked multiple part time jobs at the Union, including Team Leading at ICU Venues, which gave me invaluable insights into Union's operations.
As Student Trustee, I will aim to improve:
1) Bureaucracy:
- Review and propose amendments to outdated Union and College policies.
- Improve clarity of communication.
- Ensure student involvement in decision making.
2) Operational efficiency:
- Ensure the systems used by ICU are efficient and fit for purpose to reduce wasted staff time.
- Investigate the opportunities for sustainable integration of generative AI to streamline ICU operations.
3) Student Spaces:
- The student poppulation at Imperial is expanding and our facilities should reflect that.
- I will ensure sufficuient attention and resource is given to White City, Reynolds and Hammersmith.
4) Cost of living:
- Ensure the Union (and CSP) events and services remain affordable.
- Ensure the Union is advocating for affordable accomodation, more financial hardship support and scholarships from the College.
- Ensure the Union is working on expanding the amount of part time work opportunities for students.
5) Representation and EDI:
- Ensure Union policy is inclusive for underrepresented groups.
- Remove barriers to engagement for Postgraduate and International students.
6) Sustainbility:
- Ensure Union policies are supporting the Sustainability objectives.
