Abbie Premakumar
Hey everyone!
I'm Abbie, and I'm running to be your Phase 1a Academic Representative!
Starting medical school is exciting but can also be overwhelming. I want to make that transition smoother by ensuring everyone feels heard and supported throughout the year!
I'm currently Secretary of Tamil Society, Sponsorship Officer for the Society of Research and Academia, and part of the publicity teams for MedEd and ICSM Gazette. These roles have strengthened my communication, organisation and teamwork skills, which I hope to bring to representing our year.
If elected, I'll focus on:
-
Making your voices heard: Gathering regular feedback on teaching and assessments, ensuring concerns reach faculty and are actually followed up on.
-
Clearer communication: Advocating for early, accessible information about assessments, deadlines and expectations so nobody feels left in the dark.
-
Accessible academic support: Collaborating with MedEd and academic societies to promote revision resources, peer teaching and opportunities for everyone.
-
A smoother transition: Pushing for better guidance around workload, revision and exam preparation as we adjust to medical school.
Most importantly, I want to be someone you feel comfortable approaching, whether it's a small concern or something affecting the whole year. Being an academic rep isn't just about passing on feedback, but making sure it leads to meaningful change.
Let's make Phase 1a a year where everyone feels supported and able to succeed!
Vote Abbie! :))
