Hello everyone! My name is Sumaiya and I am so excited to be running for your Phase 1a Academic Representative this year!
Medicine can and will get tough at times: that's why it's so important to make sure that your concerns are raised effectively and efficiently. As someone who is passionate about Student Voice, my main aims are to:
- Bridge the gap between students and faculty
- Help my fellow students feel less intimidated to ask for support
- Enhance the medical school experience of myself and my peers by building on my strong communication skills from previous Student Voice roles in secondary school and Sixth Form.
I am also currently Publicity Officer for the Obs&Gynae Society, which has been really beneficial so far. I've not only become more creative but more confident in my communication and choices, which I hope to carry into this role. Improvement is always on the horizon, especially for us as medical students, and we have to be the change we want to see: not just for us, but for the future of medicine and for the future of ICSM.
