Hi everyone! I'm Heidi and I'm running to be one of your Academic Reps for this year! Starting university is no small feat (#QS2), especially when you're embarking on a 6 year journey to studying one of the hardest degrees, and especially if you're starting in a new city. Medicine is undoubtedly challenging yet rewarding, but sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is overshadowed by the immense pressure and demands that come with it. I'm running for this role because I want to help improve our academic experience by listening to your feedback, advocating for your ideas, and making sure our voices are heard by the relevant union or faculty members.
Although diamonds are made under pressure, even pressure has limits. Studying medicine will definitely challenge us to grow both individually and as a cohort, but as your Year 1 Academic Rep, I want to help to create a learning environment where we can perform at our best and where those academic challenges aid our growth, through clear communication, support and constructive feedback. Whether it's raising concerns about teaching, resources or assessments, advocating for improvements, or implementing your ideas, I want to ensure your feedback leads to, where possible, positive and meaningful change! Above all, I'd like to be someone you feel comfortable approaching, whether it be to share any thoughts, worries or just to chat about how things are going.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and please vote for me as your rep!
