Hi, I’m Gaya and I’m running to be Secretary of Paediatrics Society!

As someone with a genuine interest in paediatrics and having actively engaged in various activities within Paediatrics Society since first year, the chance to further collaborate with individuals sharing the same passion, along with the ability to enhance the range of enriching opportunities that can be offered, are two of the main reasons I wish to take on this role.

As orchestra manager of ICSM Music, I took on the responsibility of organising rehearsals and socials, sending weekly emails, sourcing music, taking attendance as well as acting as a crucial liaison between orchestral members and the committee. Further having been science café (conference) coordinator and county chess captain, I have engaged in tasks such as coordinating logistics, liasing with speakers, taking minutes, managing delegate registrations, and ensuring smooth execution of large scale events.

If I were to be elected, I aim to thus leverage my diverse experiences to facilitate effective communication, proactiveness and the successful execution of the society’s initiatives. I particularly wish to increase member engagement via newsletters and plan to achieve that through conducting surveys to understand interests, incorporating informative content (e.g. member spotlights, recent research, external events), and further implement interactive elements such as quizzes.

I believe the aforementioned skills, my enthusiasm, along with my friendly personality will aid me in being a capable secretary, and I am fully committed to dedicating myself to the responsibilities of this rewarding role.
