Anusha Manikandan
Hi everyone,
I'm Anusha and I would be thrilled to be your Secretary for the upcoming year!
Paediatrics has always piqued my interest, from how mental and emotional wellbeing play a huge role in individualised treatment plans for children, how paediatrics emphasises the importance of family-centered care, collaborating with families to make informed decisions and provide holistic care for children, to how the field as a whole demonstrates the resilience and hope our future generation possesses when faced with adversity. Being a part of the committee that represents these core elements and aims to share it with the community would be an honour.
As a current Playteam leader, I'm already comfortable with taking on responsibilities and am excited at the prospect of a new role that will allow me to reach out to a wider group through newletters and meetings. It can often feel daunting joining a new society, but Paeds has always felt approachable and welcoming, I would like to be the driving force that continues this and help others nurture their interest in this amazing field.
Volunteering with Playteam has let me see firsthand the difference that even an hour of individual play and focused attention can drastically change a child's outlook on their whole experience in hospital. I want to spread this learning and joy by being part of the team that helps spread the love for Paediatrics as a profession and has values centred around the children and how best we can serve them!
