Endocrinology is such a multi-faceted, fascinating field of medicine, as hormones govern pretty much physiological system and therefore underly many medical fields, such as oncology, women's health and neurology. I'd love to be involved in and contribute to the Imperial community that explores these intricate connections.
The society already has super strong foundations in flagship events like the National Endocrinology Conference in collaboration with UCL and Barts, so as a subcomm member, I would love to help sustain these, as well as bring fresh ideas onto the table.
What I will bring to the subcommittee:
1. Interactive clinical case workshops: Incorporate hands-on breakout sessions into theoretical lectures where students can work through endocrine emergency scenarios in groups.
2. Accessible science communication: My experience with social media and science communication, through a personal science blog and being an award winning Young Enterprise marketing director, I would love to help design vibrant educational and promotional content, as well as introduce new content focuses (career spotlights and highlighting breakthroughs on Instagram stories for example).
3. Logistics and planning: I bring proven experience in high-pressure event operations - including organising large-scale student events like Freshers’ Big Chill, as well as various charity events - to ensure our events run like clockwork.
4. Amplifying women's health education: This remains a crucial but underrepresented side of endocrinology and medicine in general. I would therefore love to aid with the implementation of targeted educational sessions and panels on such endocrine conditions.
