Crystal Chen
Hi everyone! I’m Crystal and I’m running to be your First Year Wellbeing Representative.
Having experienced feelings of loneliness myself, I understand how overwhelming university life can be, especially as we navigate independence, academic pressures and that feeling that everyone else has it all figured out.
While I can't promise to make university stress free, I believe small, meaningful changes can make a big difference. I want to help build a community where everyone feels heard, supported and included.
My key goals would be:
1. Mental Wellbeing: A More Connected and Supportive Community
Your voice matters - I want to strengthen communication between students and staff by listening to your concerns, responding promptly and regularly sharing feedback with the department.
Making wellbeing accessible - I’ll keep students informed about opportunities across campus, while encouraging more accessible, low pressure activities that everyone can feel comfortable joining.
Supporting you through academic pressure - To ensure your concerns are heard, I’ll work alongside academic representatives and staff to advocate for accessible revision resources, tutorials and extra academic help.
2. Physical Wellbeing: Healthy Bodies = Healthy Minds
With busy schedules and the challenges of independent living, many students struggle to find time to prepare nutritious meals.
To ensure that students are fuelling their body and minds properly, I want to ensure they have sufficient nutrition. I’d love to explore the possibility of a funded healthy breakfast initiative, especially during exam periods.
I hope to create a more inclusive environment and a smoother experience for everyone.
