Chemical Engineering (UG): Year One Wellbeing Representative

An Advocate Who Acts, Listens, and Offers Support

While enrolling in university is wonderful, there are hidden obstacles to overcome. Chemical engineering is challenging, and juggling the demands of the classroom with personal life and the adjustment can feel overwhelming. As Wellbeing Representative, I will create a community where people don't feel like they have to deal with issues alone.

As a Mental Health First Aider, I know how critical it is to identify when someone might be having difficulties, handle situations with compassion, and offer an accepting environment for individuals. Even while I can't solve every issue, I can listen, assist in finding support, and make sure people understand that asking for assistance is a sign of strength, not weakness.

My top goals would be: increasing wellbeing support through Imperial's facilities, and promote discussions about mental health. In order to find common issues, such as workload, stress, loneliness, or challenges of university life, I would also often ask students for input. To address these issues, I would try to collaborate with the department and pertinent student support programs.

Above all, I want to speak for all undergraduates, regardless of their circumstances, background, or degree status. Support should not simply be offered when someone reaches their breaking point, nor should wellbeing be an afterthought.

If elected, I would work to create a more compassionate, welcoming, and encouraging atmosphere where students feel free to express themselves, ask for assistance, and convinced that their well-being is as important as their academic achievement.
