Medicine (UG): Medical Biosciences - Year Two Academic Representative

My approach is simple: Listen. Communicate. Act. Improve.

I’m running for BMB Year 2 Academic Representative because I enjoy finding ways to improve academic systems and making sure students’ voices are heard. I chose not to run for a representative role in Year 1 because I wanted to first experience and understand the course myself. Having now completed Year 1, I have a much better understanding of what our course is like, and know that with our flipped classroom approach, there is always room for improvement.

Before Imperial, I was Deputy Head of School at Haileybury UK, where I was heavily involved in gathering student feedback and representing the views of a student body. I learnt that being a good representative isn’t just about speaking for people, but about listening, communicating feedback clearly and following up to make sure something happens.

As your Academic Representative, I would gather feedback from as many people as possible, not just through Microsoft Forms, but also verbally during our F2F sessions and lab days. I enjoy having a chat with people and understanding what you think we could change or improve about the BMB course. Whether it concerns teaching, workload, ICAs and exams, LP2 or elective modules, I will make sure your feedback reaches people and that you know what happens as a result.

I’m ready to put my experience, time and enthusiasm into making our academic experience the best it can be.

If it matters to you, it matters to me. Vote Cecilia!
