Sham Alkateb
Hey! I’m Sham, a fourth year Chemistry student running to represent Physical Sciences on Union Council. Students deserve a Union that listens, supports them and acts transparently.
1. Making student voices count. I will work with RCSU, departmental societies and Academic Reps to bring Physical Sciences students’ concerns to Council. I will make it easier for students to speak up and share updates on what has been raised, what action is being taken and what remains unresolved.
2. Making student life more affordable. University costs go beyond tuition fees. Food, housing, transport and everyday essentials put real pressure on students, particularly in London. I will push for more bursaries and scholarships, clearer information about hardship funding and more affordable campus food, so students can focus on their education without worrying about basic costs.
3. Fairness, transparency and accountability. I will work with Academic Reps to raise concerns about assessment criteria, marking and feedback with the College. I will also push for transparency around Union spending, investments and partnerships, including the Union’s position on Palestine and where its money goes. Students deserve to know how financial decisions are made and to have a say in ensuring they align with human rights and ethical principles.
Being a representative means more than attending meetings. It means asking difficult questions, following up and reporting back. I want a Union students can understand, influence and hold accountable.
Vote for a Union that listens, acts and answers to its students.
