Feyi Akinmoju

Council Representative (UG Engineering)

Hi everyone! My name is Feyi Akinmoju, and I’m running to be your Engineering Representative to the Union Council. I want to ensure that every member of the Faculty has a voice, including those who might otherwise go unheard, and that your feedback leads to meaningful change.

My priorities:

  • Engineering merchandise to foster pride and a stronger sense of community.

  • More use of physical and virtual departmental noticeboards to provide alternatives to the constant stream of emails.

  • A more accessible way to raise concerns, ensuring everyone feels heard and supported.

I will liaise with the Union and Faculty to explore viable merchandise options, taking budget allocations into account. I will also gather feedback through anonymous surveys and informal conversations to understand students’ needs.

To improve communication about events, I will work with departmental societies, eg. EESoc, and the Union to encourage more frequent use of noticeboards. I will also advocate for an anonymous suggestion form through which students can raise issues they would like brought to the Union, as an alternative to raising issues directly, which may be daunting for some.

Having served on the Equity Commission for my school, I have experience advocating for peers and representing students’ concerns. I understand the importance of different perspectives and pushing for change.

I cannot promise immediate solutions, but I can promise to take your feedback seriously, communicate your concerns to those relevant and follow up on progress. I want to ensure that these improvements are sustained for future cohorts.
