Hongcheng Wu

Hi! I’m Hongcheng Wu, but most people call me Calvin. I’m a first-year Design Engineering student, and I’m running for Council Representative for Undergraduate Engineering.

I see this role as a chance to listen carefully, bring student concerns to the right place, and make sure people hear back afterwards.

In high school, I was Vice President of the Academic Department. My experience included:

• Collecting student feedback
• Meeting with teachers and school management
• Helping organise academic events and peer support
• Raising student concerns and helping push for changes
• Leading clubs, teams and cross-school activities

I’ve learned that representing a group means hearing different views, not just speaking from your own experience.

If I’m fortunate enough to be elected, here are a few things I’d like to work on:

• Ask for student feedback before Council meetings, rather than deciding what matters from my own perspective
• Share short updates afterwards on what was raised, what response we got and what happens next
• Reach out across different Engineering departments, not just Design Engineering or people I already know

As a first-year student, I still have a lot to learn about Imperial. I see that as a reason to listen more widely.

I may not always have an immediate answer, but I will take concerns seriously and follow them up properly.

Vote Calvin (Hongcheng) for Council Rep!
