To quote the most famous and influential astronaut, Vector - Despicable Me, 2010, "[A vector has] both magnitude and direction" and I believe that the same sentiments can applied to my motivations to become your Academic Rep.
Firstly, I have a very strong magnitude within our community; I am super social and love chatting so am confident to act as a student voice and I am easy to find (avid lecture- goer).
Secondly, direction; I have a very clear direction for what I want to achieve as academic rep.
My main ideas are as follows:
- Encourage lecturers to release the FULL lecture notes rather than weekly sections
- Introduce a new anonymous feedback method
- Bring back ED discussion
Firstly, I will campaign for our access to the full lecture notes. Whether you like to pre-read for the lecture or generate a podcast for your commute, as Academic Rep, I will fight for our access to the full lecture notes.
Secondly, I want to improve the method of student feedback to lecturers. I plan to create an anonymous feedback method, accessible throughout the lecture course which lecturers can view at any time. This means they can implement feedback - such as including more examples- during the course.
Finally, ED is a great way to anonymously ask questions, especially when office hours can get busy. As Academic Rep, I will re-implement ED discussion.
I would be honoured to be the vector that positively directs your experience in physics.
