FemTech: Head of Subcommittee

Hi guys! My name is Aayla, and as a second-year Medical Biosciences student and current FemTech subcommittee member (Article Writer), I have been deeply involved in our events, discussions, and initiatives. Through writing and engaging with emerging research, I’ve developed a strong understanding of the gender health gap and the urgent need for innovation in female healthcare. Aspiring to pursue medicine post-graduation, I am especially passionate about bridging scientific research, clinical practice, and technological advancement to improve outcomes for women.

Fundamentally, I see FemTech as more than an industry; it is a movement correcting centuries of exclusion in medical research and care. As Head of Subcommittee, I want to help drive that momentum forward in close association with you all.

Firstly, I aim to strengthen research-led awareness within our society by integrating evidence-based insights into events, spotlighting overlooked areas such as reproductive health innovation, menopause technology, and diagnostic bias.

Secondly, I want to expand structured networking and startup engagement, ensuring members can access tangible pathways into FemTech careers, research, and entrepreneurship.

Alongside my academic involvement, my experience as a Marketing Associate in, a startup supporting students in gaining postgraduate opportunities, has strengthened my organisational skills, communication, and teamwork. Working in a fast-paced startup environment has taught me initiative, adaptability, and collaboration, all essential qualities I will bring forward to lead and coordinatinate a subcommittee effectively.

I am running because I am committed to equity in healthcare and to building a stronger, more connected FemTech community that empowers future changemakers!
