Ruslana Mudra
From my early years in medical school, I have been passionate about the neurosciences, particularly neurosurgery, and have been actively exploring the field through national and international conferences (INNC, NANSIG), courses, and academic research involvement.
One of my key aims as Neuro Secretary is to further develop our annual Meeting of the Minds conference: creating a dynamic event that brings together inspiring speakers, practical workshops, and opportunities for students to submit abstracts and present their work. With previous exposure to collaborating in the INNC conference, I have gained a wide range of insight into professional and student-led conferences. I want this conference to not only showcase the breadth of specialties from neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiodiology to neuroscience, but also to serve as a place for networking.
I am particularly keen on strengthening collaborations with societies such as Neurotech to provide greater insight into medtech and innovation, as well as developing inter-university neuro events with other London institutions, especially through links with UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology. For those interested in neurosurgery, I hope to increase access to practical surgical skills workshops to provide early hands-on exposure.
Mentorship will also be a priority. I would love to establish structured mentorship schemes across neuro-specialties, connecting students with clinicians and researchers who can provide guidance on career pathways, applications, and research involvement.
I am proactive, organised, and deeply motivated to see our Neuro Society grow academically, professionally, and collaboratively. It would be an honour to serve as your Neuro Secretary.
