Hi everyone! I’m Sam Li (left), 1st Year JMC Academic Rep, and I’m running for DoCSoc Events Officer this year.
When I first joined Imperial, I was genuinely surprised by DoCSoc's amazing events, which give us all much-needed breaks from coursework deadlines and internship applications. I want to build on this and make DoCSoc events even more engaging, accessible, and fun for everyone. I was a long-term volunteer at ICHack 26, so I know just how much work goes into making sure big events run smoothly.
As Events Officer, I will:
- Fight for the return of legendary DoCSoc Union bar nights (subsidised!), alongside additional large-scale socials like New Year’s party and Boat Party.
- Introduce a biweekly DoCSoc games night featuring everything from Mario Kart and Smash Bros to Poker and Mafia.
- Organise more cultural celebrations such as Diwali (Dandiya, Bollywood night) and Chinese New Year (hotpot, mahjong night).
- Introduce karaoke and jazz nights (perhaps even a pub crawl?)
- Expand food-and-drink-focused events, such as subsidised bubble tea/matcha runs, and group restaurant socials.
- Actively gather and implement YOUR feedback so events reflect what members actually want.
I’d love the opportunity to help make DoCSoc an even more welcoming and fun community for all of us.
