Materials: Secretary

Seeing my friends run the society together is the biggest inspiration why I am running for a position this year. After two years with the department, I would love to continue growing closer with my course mates before we end this fleeting journey in university. Joining Materials Society’s committee is an opportunity to get to know more about my course mates and interact with the staff more.

The current committee had held many events successfully this year -lunchtime lectures and career events- all which need people behind the scenes and probably lots of logistic work. As secretary, I will work closely with the MatSoc team in ensuring the event goes smoothly. Being involved in previous leadership roles, I am familiar with organisation work and am happy to work beyond my role to fill in any gaps should the team needs help.

To my fellow candidates / future MatSoc committee members:

As someone who often works in teams, I can assure you that communication is my priority. I will not ghost you or go MIA in my tasks, and accountability is a value I hold myself to. Need someone who shares their opinions and are willing to take lead initiatives? Pick-me-up snacks randomly? I’ve got you (and paperwork done on time, of course). If this sounds like a secretary you would like to have in your committee, please consider throwing your vote in for me.

Cheers!
