Hi everyone!

I’m Samantha, your current MatSoc Secretary, and I’m re-running for the role!

This year, I’ve worked hard to ensure that MatSoc delivers for you, and I would love to continue doing that. Behind the scenes, being Secretary isn’t just about taking minutes, but creating structure, keeping momentum, and making sure that ideas actually come to life.

What I’ve done this year:

• Organised Mums and Dads matching to help freshers settle in (I do hope you guys are still in contact with your families 👀)
• Coordinated merch launches (seen the new MatSoc fleeces? A re-run might be possible if there's enough interest!)
• Kept meetings organised and decisions moving forward
• Ensured clear communication between the committee, the department, and students
• Been actively involved in shaping events and the overall direction of MatSoc

What I want to bring next year:

• Continue and strengthen MatSoc traditions, such as End-of-Year Ceilidh and New Year’s Dinner, keeping the events that bring us together
• More social events: karaoke, movie and games nights, themed socials, craft workshops, etc., more ways for everyone to get involved!
• Bigger and better merch (a little birdie told me that there will be a merch design competition coming up in Easter, have a look out for that!)
• Closer ties with RSMU and other societies to expand and maintain collaborations
