Gareth Tse
Hello, I'm Gareth!
As a first-year Biochemistry student, Year Representative (Academic), and Union Council Faculty Representative for over 3,600 Natural Sciences undergraduates, I have operated at every level of the student representation network, from SSC meetings to university-wide governance.
Who I Am & What I Stand For
I have hands-on experience raising student concerns with senior staff and union leadership, and I understand how to navigate the structures that drive real change.
I will prioritise what matters most: assessment fairness, course clarity, resource accessibility, and support for struggling students.
What I Will Do
Build a clear feedback loop between Departmental Reps and Faculty staff, keeping students informed on progress at every stage.
Regarding assessment & feedback, I will push for fairer workloads and ensure curriculum reviews actually benefit students.
Postgraduate Representation: Actively raise PG concerns at Faculty level so their voices carry equal weight.
How I Will Do It
As VP Education, I will chair the FoNS SSC, sit on the Natural Sciences Education Committee (NSEC), which influences major changes to modules and courses, and hold regular catch-ups with the FoNS Vice Dean, Education, and Faculty Senior Tutor. This role also makes me an Officer of the Union and ex officio member of Union Council, ensuring the RCSU has a seat at the table where university-wide decisions are made.
