RCSU: Vice President (Education)

Hi, I'm Sara, an incoming second-year biochemist, and here's why I should represent you as the Vice President of Education for the RCSU.

As your VP in Education, my goal is to make sure our limited time here is not just a cycle of deadlines and exams, but also preparation for what comes next, without losing the joy of the process.

Being a former Student Council President, I know that student voices do create change. I have learned how to represent my peers, and always advocate for them, working on policy-making that has actually made progress (e.g. I made sure students with dyed hair did not have to succumb to my high school dress code!!)

As VP of Education, I will ensure I (1) work closely with reps to bring recurring academic concerns directly to student-staff committees and (2) improve transparency, so RCSU students are aware of what changes are being made.

A recent Felix headline read that nearly 4 in 5 of Imperial students are stressed about internships, but as one of the 4 in 5, I want to bring that number down.

As students of the natural sciences, we have skills valuable in fields beyond academia or consultancy. So, I want to (3) expand our alumni panels and offer (4) practical skill-building workshops (#whatevenisnetworking?).

Above all, I sincerely care about learning and about making systems work better for the people within them.

Let's get this degree (and build ourselves up with it too).

Vote Sara for VP Education.
