Yun Hui Tan

Hi everyone! My name is Abigail / Yun Hui and I am running for Volunteer Coordinator of Paediatrics society. This year, I have volunteered avidly for PlayTeam. Watching the smiles on the children's faces as we played with them on the wards, and seeing how we helped to distract them, albeit temporarily, from the pain they are facing definitely warms my heart. Therefore, I would like to give back as Volunteer Coordinator for this programme that has been so meaningful to me.

Previously, I was Vice-President for a nursing home volunteering programme. I helped to coordinate and plan nursing home visits, and helped the volunteers with organising activities for the elderly. I believe my prior experience in volunteer management and leadership would be an asset for me to serve as Volunteer Coordinator.

I was on subcommittee for iPRAS and Surgical Society, where I helped to acquire items needed for conferences and helped with the set-up/ cleanup during conferences. In addition, I helped to welcome some of the speakers/ demonstrators. I believe my experience in organising conferences would enable me to serve in Paediatrics society, in activities such as conferences too.
