Janushana Sutharsan

I am Janushana, a third-year medical student, and I am standing for position of Volunteer Coordinator for ICSM Paediatrics Society. As a frequent Teddy Bear and Play Team volunteer, I enjoy interacting with and teaching younger children about their health and am enthusiastic to contribute to this society.

Currently, I am Publicity Officer for both LMAP Society and Paediatric Society and I am also the Secretary for ICSM Teddy Bear Hospital. This has taught me how to handle different roles and nagivate these responsibility effectively. I publicise school visits and society events, ensuring a high turnout amongst volunteers. This has taught me how to organise my time efficiently when working to tight deadlines and develop my communication skills which will help me in keeping track of the polos.

I also volunteered with Play Team this year and even stepped up to be Play Team Leader when asked to support the group. As Publicity Officer for Paediatrics Society, I was closely working with the Play Team chairs this year to publicise Play Team and recruit volunteers so have some experience with Play Team. As Volunteer Coordinator, I will ensure the polos are ordered and keep track of the polos. From discussion with Play Team members, socials for volunteers would be a great opportunity for like-minded individuals to socialise. Another thing I would hope to start in Play Team is organising and distributing toy and book collections for children during their stay in the hospital.
