Dhruv Vasooja

Hey everyone, it's Dhruv Vasooja, and I'm applying for the Treasurer role in the Surgical Society! This year's journey with the Surgsoc Trauma Committee has been incredibly enriching, and I've gained a ton from actively helping out in various events throughout the year. While working on the event budget as the conference chair for my other roles, I realised the critical importance of monitoring cash flow and budgeting for the success and sustainability of large events.

I've learned specific modules on budget optimisation, and I'm confident that these skills will contribute to lowering ticket prices next year. I am also well-versed in meeting deadlines and crafting efficient spreadsheets, but beyond that, I'm excited about the opportunity to explore the intricacies of financial management. In my role as treasurer, I'm here to:

• Provide personalised one-on-one financial advice and support to event organisers, recognising the challenges of crafting event budgets.
• Keep meticulous records of transactions to ensure transparency and accountability.
• Actively participate in meetings to keep everyone informed and engaged in financial decisions.
• Help the sponsorship team to ensure funds are received in an efficient and stress-free process.

Having served as a sponsorship officer last year, I understand the nuances of payments and the importance of organising them efficiently.
