Biology: Secretary

Hi, I’m Pratyay, running for the Secretary position for BioSoc. As someone starting out on their journey at Imperial, I can’t express how amazing it’s been to dive into biology here, and knowing that everyone else in the Biology Society shares the same passion makes me eager to contribute to the society.

A secretary needs to fulfill the role of being the glue that holds the many moving pieces in a society together, while also ensuring that the vision of the committee is properly realised. It’s definitely load-heavy. I believe that as a first year who is being eased into their degree, I can commit myself to the society wholeheartedly.

Relevant Experiences:

  • Co-founder and Vice President of my high school’s Physics club. It was my job to communicate with the staff and the committee for bookkeeping, setting up committee meetings, and addressing any internal complaints between committee members.

  • Publicity Officer for my high school’s public speaking society. In this role, I had to directly communicate with the rest of the committee and do my best to relay their (sometimes outlandish) ideas into promotional materials for the society’s events, including guest speakers and workshops.

  • Head of the disciplinary committee of my school’s prefectorial board, where I had to manage team members and keep other prefects accountable. It involved regular communication with faculty and bookkeeping for incidents in the prefectorial board, along with school rule violations.
