Clear expectations. Useful feedback. A voice for every student.
Hi everyone! I’m Yuehan Yang, a first-year EFDS student from southern China, running to be your Year One Academic Representative. I enjoy tennis, singing soprano in a choir, drama acting and exploring Chinese tea culture. Whether over tea or a walk, I’m always happy to chat!
We come to EFDS with different strengths in economics, mathematics and programming. I want everyone to feel comfortable asking questions and confident about what is expected.
As a former high school student union president, I coordinated five departments and worked with students and teachers to turn ideas into action. I would bring that same organisation and commitment to our year.
My priorities are:
1. Making feedback easy
I will offer an anonymous feedback form and opportunities to speak directly, ensuring concerns across both teaching streams reach our departmental representatives.
2. Clearer learning and assessment guidance
I will advocate for clear marking criteria, assignment instructions and timely feedback, and raise recurring concerns about teaching pace or learning materials.
3. Keeping you informed
After representative meetings, I will share what was raised, the response received and what still needs attention.
4. Supporting different starting points
I will gather feedback on where extra practice, revision guidance or clarification would help students with different mathematical and coding backgrounds.
I’ll listen carefully, represent your views fairly and follow through.
Vote Yuehan for an approachable, organised and accountable Academic Rep.
