John Zhou
Hi everyone! I’m John :)
I believe university should be about more than academic achievement. It should also be a place to build friendships, explore new interests and look after our wellbeing. However, balancing studies, extracurricular activities, social life and rest isn’t always easy, especially in our first year at Imperial.
As a Medical Biosciences student, I’m navigating these challenges myself while balancing my studies with badminton training and weekly BUCS fixtures, representing ICSM’s men’s and mixed teams against other universities. This has helped me appreciate the importance of finding a healthy balance.
If elected, I would aim to:
-
Listen and represent: Ensure your concerns and suggestions are heard by the relevant staff.
-
Promote balance: Support a healthy approach to academic pressure, extracurricular activities and personal time.
-
Improve access to support: Help students find appropriate wellbeing resources when needed.
-
Build community: Foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable asking for help and supporting one another.
Most importantly, I want this role to reflect your needs and priorities. Whether you're adjusting to university life or struggling to balance different commitments, I want to listen and do my best to represent you.
Together, we can make our first year a more supportive environment where everyone can thrive academically and personally.
I’d really appreciate your vote! :)
