coming from lowkey the middle of nowhere in northern ireland, i understand that trying to settle into first year at a uni as demanding as imperial - and in one of the hardest courses - can throw up challenges in unexpected ways. money worries, strain and burnout from the workload (love those constant 9-5s), struggling to feel at home, or maybe something else entirely. none of it should stop us enjoying this year
and while imperial's support is great, for new students drowning in info this can seem confusing, distant and overly formal
so to fix this i’ll aim to:
campaign for more & better wellbeing events and workshops
computing does run some, but as we share many of the same struggles, they should be built around us. i’d also push for more dog therapy sessions, since i can find next to nothing about them after they mentioned them at the start
provide a wellbeing newsletter
all the info and dates in one place so you're not hunting for them
provide a dedicated means of communication
an email or a social media account for suggestions, directions or just whatever's on your mind; i want to hear from you so i’ll make it as easy as possible to reach out
so skipping the corny final paragraphs, vote me, cause i’m not doing this to larp
