Studying at Imperial is an incredible opportunity; with access to world-class resources and some of the brightest minds to learn from, we're in an environment that pushes us to reach our full potential. Amid so much focus on academic success, it's just as important to have the support to prioritise our mental wellbeing.
I'd love to help foster an environment within our cohort where we look out for one another and feel confident in the help available. Imperial offer a range of services, and I'd like to make these more accessible.
That being said, there's always more that can be done. Last year's stethoscope project showed how limited lab time affects our coursework, particularly when these constraints aren't acknowledged until much later in the timeline. Flagging these issues earlier would let our concerns be addressed, reducing stress on an already demanding workload.
The pressures of university affect us in different ways; not all are visible, and not everyone feels comfortable speaking openly. I'd like to ensure support doesn't have to start with a conversation. This means letting students raise concerns anonymously, still receive relevant support, and later identify themselves if they wish to take things further.
Above all, I want to be a friendly face you feel at ease approaching, whether you need someone to talk to, guidance in accessing help, or simply someone who'll take the time to listen. No one can know what you're going through, but support is available, and I hope you'll feel comfortable reaching out.
