coming from a place where being queer was stigmatised, i know just how important it is to be seen. so when i first came to imperial and saw the rainbow lanyards, the groups and the events, i realised how cracked this uni is. but like all things, it can be even more cracked.
that’s why i’m running. if i’m elected, i want to:
run socials that aren’t built around alcohol or clubbing
you can fight me for this but places like heaven are now highkey buns. w/ all the venues we have, we could have board game nights, food, film nights (in the union!!!) etc. : somewhere to meet people that doesn’t depend on a night out or being comfortable in a crowd
bring in queer people from stem careers
imperial is full of engineers, scientists and coders. hearing from queer people already working in those fields shows us that we're lowkey goated i.e. we don’t have to hide to get there
reach the people who haven’t found us yet
plenty of students come from places like mine, where there was nowhere to be open about it. i want it to be obvious throughout the year that there’s a space here for them, especially during february
so, skipping the corny final paragraph: vote for me.
