Cris Kermode
My name is Cris Kermode, and I am running for course representative of MSc Epidemiology with the goal of ensuring transparent communication between students and staff and developing a stronger student community.
Below are my top 3 priorities as course representative:
1. Enhance academic supervision and support
I will advocate for regular student check-ins to provide a safe space for sharing concerns, discussing academic challenges, and identifying where additional support is needed. Where necessary, I will ensure that issues are appropriately escalated to staff.
2. Empower postgraduate students
I aim to strengthen our postgraduate network by encouraging collaboration, peer support, and inclusion. I want to help create a connected course community where students can share experiences, build relationships, and support one another throughout their studies and beyond.
3. Promote a healthy work-life balance
I will advocate for better coordination of course schedules, clear assessment criteria, and effective communication around deadlines to help students manage their workload and maintain their wellbeing.
My previous experience as Welfare Secretary, Student Representative, and Conflict Mediator has equipped me with the skills to advocate for student wellbeing, listen impartially, and facilitate constructive communication. I aim to be an approachable and fair representative who ensures student concerns are heard and helps build positive, productive relationships between students and staff.
Together, we can create a more supportive, transparent, and collaborative MSc Epidemiology experience for everyone.
