Hi. I’m KAIDEN LO, and I’m running as YOUR CHEMENG ACADEMIC REP.
I like trying new things. I’ve done triathlons, gone backpacking in Taiwan, worked on a grape farm in Japan, and somehow found myself here. Now it’s your turn to try something new too; put a little faith in me and finish reading this manifesto!
While I’m still new to this city, I’m not new to representing people, academic or otherwise. For the past few years, I've been Chairperson of my school’s Student Council, as well as Volleyball Captain and Head of Research in our Environmental Council. Through these roles, I’ve worked to listen and communicate with a range of personalities, from my peers to senior leaders, and most importantly, actually take the time to do something.
I am NOT here to offer impractical promises or abstract ideas about how things could be better. I am here to be someone you can approach, understand what is and isn’t working, and work tirelessly to turn your concerns into achievable goals. Whether it’s the lecture pace, teaching styles, recordings, tutorials, problem sheets, or something else entirely, your concerns are not words in the wind: they are potential changes waiting to be made into reality. As your Academic Rep, I won’t keep them waiting much longer.
