Chemical Engineering (UG): Year One Academic Representative

Your Voice. Your Education. Your Representative.

Hi everyone!

I'm Harmann, a first-year Chemical Engineering student, and I'm standing to be your Academic Representative!

We all know Imperial is academically demanding, and adjusting to university comes with challenges. Whether it's keeping up with lectures, managing coursework or understanding difficult concepts, everyone deserves to have their voice heard.

If elected, I'll focus on three priorities:

  • Making your voice heard: I'll actively gather feedback through conversations and anonymous surveys, ensuring everyone's opinions are represented, not just those who speak up the loudest.

  • Improving our learning experience: Whether students are struggling with a particular module, lecture pacing or missing revision materials, I'll raise these concerns with Department Representatives and academic staff, working towards practical solutions.

  • Communication and transparency: I'll provide regular updates on concerns raised, discussions with staff and progress made, so you know what happens after sharing your feedback.

As Charity Coordinator on my sixth-form Student Leadership Team, I worked with students and staff to organise fundraising events, including a charity football match and Culture Day. By listening to students' suggestions and collaborating with my team, I learned how to turn ideas into action.

I want to bring that same commitment to representing our year.

I'll listen, I'll speak up, and I'll follow through.

Let's make our first year at Imperial the best it can be!
