Hello!

My name is Roisin, and I’d love to be your Year 1 Physics Student Representative!

I believe the most important part of being a student rep is good communication. As somebody who loves to chat, I think I’m well suited to the role! I enjoy talking to everybody, whether that’s students, staff or anyone in between. I’d love to act as a strong link between our cohort and the wider department. Having served on the Players’ Council of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland I already have lots of experience here. Also, I like to think I’m quite approachable! Whatever you want to discuss, I’ll listen!

As we’ve heard, this year’s Physics intake is the largest ever. With 296 new faces, it could be easy for some to slip through the cracks. That’s why my priority would be to make sure every student feels heard and valued. Even if you’re not somebody who naturally speaks up, your opinions matter just as much. Whether you have thoughts on lectures, exams, or anything else, I’d love to hear them!

Also, it’s really important to me that we gel as a group. I’m not saying we all have to walk to lectures together as one mega-group, but I it would be great if everyone had people they felt comfortable talking to and asking for help. I would make ensure that everyone finds their feet in such a large class.
