At some point in the first few weeks, most of us have probably left a lecture, opened a problem sheet, or sat in a lab and wondered: Have I missed something obvious that everyone else understands?

Hopefully with time you'll come to know me as Harris. Just another student making sense of lectures, surviving labs, and working through exactly those same questions while trying not to get lost between Blackett and Huxley.

That is the point: we are all figuring this out for the first time.

We come from different backgrounds and face different challenges. But every one of us deserves a voice that matters.

That is why I am standing to be your Year 1 Academic Rep.

My priorities

• Easy feedback: a simple way to share concerns, named or anonymous.
• Action on concerns: workload, teaching, labs, assessments, academic feedback, and support.
• Clear updates: what was raised, what can be done, and what happens next.

I cannot promise every issue will be fixed. I can promise to listen, raise concerns with the Department, follow up, and report back honestly, so your feedback does not disappear into an inbox without an answer.

A representative should not just have a seat at the table. They should make sure your voice has one too.
