Vedang Mandalia

Hi, I’m Vedang, and as a consistent member of the 3’s for the past two years, I would love to give back to the club by taking on captaincy. Cricket has been a huge part of the past 2 years, and I want to contribute to this environment so that members continue having such positive experiences.

As we all know, the 3’s have had ups and downs over the last few years, and we tend to drop our heads when things aren’t going well. My main goal for next season is to push a culture where we stay energetic and involved at all points in the game, because if we can keep enjoying ourselves no matter what, I believe intensity and results will follow. Making sure that bowlers are supported and efforts in the field are acknowledged will help us to stay positive throughout.

During the off-season, my priority is a stronger focus on the basics of fielding and catching early on so that no one is going in to the season cold. In a similar vein, I would like to start introducing match scenarios much earlier in net sessions and taking them more seriously, making sure that we are prepared to play competitive cricket from the word go.

Finally, as 3’s captain, I want to make sure that this squad is one where everyone gets an opportunity and feels comfortable making the most of it. I believe a supportive team culture will bring the best out of all members.
