Hello everyone, I’m Alice, a first-year Theoretical Physics undergraduate, and I would love to be your Novice Officer this year!
Having started as a novice myself, I know how exciting and challenging it can be. Starting rowing at university is a fantastic chance to challenge yourself and build lasting friendships. I aim to help foster a supportive and motivating environment where every novice feels encouraged to push themselves and enjoy the process, both on and off the water.
I’m currently co-founding and serving as Vice President of a new Wine Society at Imperial. Building a society from the ground up has strengthened my leadership and organisational skills, from setting a clear vision to working closely with the committee to turn ideas into well-executed events. These experiences have prepared me to support novices effectively and help create a positive, inclusive environment.
If elected, I would focus on:
- Strengthening the novice community through relaxed, inclusive socials that bring crews together outside of training.
- Being a reliable and friendly point of contact
- Helping novices feel part of the whole club through more joint socials and mixed events with the senior squad.
- Creating a recreational division within the novice squad for those who do not wish to compete.
Rowing is demanding, but that's what makes it so rewarding. I would ensure that novice year is not only about improving on the water, but also about building confidence, resilience, and lasting friendships.
Thank you for your consideration. I would be incredibly grateful for your vote!
