Alice Pemberton
Hi, I'm Alice! I am drawn to paediatric plastic surgery as it is a rapidly advancing and expanding field, and has the power to transform the lives of children with congenital abnormalities and those suffering from traumatic injuries.
Having been on committee this year and helping out behind the scenes at our conferences, I’ve seen firsthand how inspiring they are and what goes into organising them. This has motivated me to take on a larger role next year and help maintain the high standard set by last year’s conference.
I would prioritise contacting speakers early on and arranging backup speakers where possible to avoid last-minute programme changes. I’d also coordinate early with suppliers (for example local butchers) to make sure practical workshops run reliably and safely. I would aim to start collaboration with the King’s team earlier in the planning process so tasks such as organising finances and creating advertising posts on Instagram can be divided more effectively between societies and the organisation of the conference runs more smoothly.
To help secure speakers, I’d be happy to reach out to consultants I know from work experience at GOSH, alongside contacting a wide range of specialists. I’d also be excited to explore a theme such as “Innovation in Paediatric Plastic Surgery”, highlighting modern advances and the future direction of the field.
My goal is to help organise a conference that is engaging, well-run, and continues the inspiring momentum of last year’s event. :)
