Theme : From function to identity
Hi, I’m Ying, and I’m excited to run for Paediatric Plastic Surgery Conference Co-Chair
My interest in paediatrics stems from the opportunity to reshape lives from the very beginning – creating impact that lasts a lifetime. Paediatric plastic surgery goes beyond restoring form and function to shaping confidence, identity and long-term wellbeing.
As the events officer of Malaysia Medics International, I gained invaluable experience organising our interview prep programme and contributing to operations for our 11th annual Summit. These responsibilities strengthened my organisational skills, communication, and ability to coordinate large-scale events – equipping me with confidence to deliver a high-quality and inspiring conference.
My vision :
I aim to build on core paediatric plastic surgery topics while introducing greater academic depth and engagement:
- Expanding content to include innovation in paediatric plastics with opportunities for student abstract presentations in addition to core paediatric plastic surgery topics.
- Securing experienced surgeons, paediatricians, and multidisciplinary specialists early to ensure a high-calibre speaker lineup.
- Introducing an ethics and psychosocial impact panel - recognising that paediatric reconstruction extends far beyond the operating theatre
- Introduction of case-based simulation workshop, allowing delegates to work through real patient journeys and gain insight into the life and responsibility of a paediatric plastic surgeon.
This conference should remind us that behind every reconstruction is a child whose confidence, function and future are shaped by what we do. I would be honoured to help lead a conference that reflects that responsibility.
