Abhavya Anand
Hi everyone, I am really excited to go for the role of paediatric plastic surgery conference co chair!
This was the first conference I attended as part of IPRASS, and it really opened my eyes to the breadth of plastic surgery – from helping the quality of life of children, the opportunities of working in charities abroad, to following up with patients throughout a person’s life. I was inspired by the talks from the lecturers and loved the workshops, especially the burns debridement! Attending this event initiated my interest, and I would love to be involved in organising it.
If I were to be elected as a co-chair, I would be proactive, reliable and organised. I have been involved in organising events by helping with UH night and RAG. I also have great leadership and teamwork skills, which I developed in my role as 4s Netball co-captain.
I have many ideas that could be introduced to the conference, including:
- Having a talk from patients to learn from their experience with plastic surgery
- Talks exploring the opportunities of paediatric plastic surgery abroad – engaging with speakers from other conferences who have discussed these topics
- Boosting accessibility in workshops by recording tutorials for workshops before the conference, so delegates are able to watch before or watch in the session for easier visibility.
In summary, I am a friendly and enthusiastic individual and would love to potentially be a conference co-chair!!
