Hindu Society: Events Officer

I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Hindu Society committee in the past year, and I would greatly cherish the opportunity to serve on the committee again next year, as Events Officer.

This year I have attended a wide range of HSoc events, from smaller on-campus gatherings such as Aartis, discussion sessions and Gita talks, to larger city-wide celebrations, like the Diwali ball and Garba. I also had the opportunity to take part in the committee dance at the Diwali Ball, which was a great way to bond with fellow committee members. These events have been a key part of my time at university so far and have given me a strong appreciation for the role HSoc plays in building a strong sense of community.

As a trained classical singer, I particularly value the role that music, performance and celebration play in bringing people together and showcasing the richness of our culture. Therefore, next year I would like to organise more Bhajan nights and dance showcases, where more people will be encouraged to perform. I would like to incorporate rituals, dances and music from as many different cultures as possible, allowing members to appreciate the complexity and vastness of Hinduism.

As Events Officer, my aim would be to organise engaging events that continue to celebrate our traditions while creating memorable experiences for all members.
