Hi, I’m Avan. I’m running for President of VCPE Society to build on what’s already working and take the society from strong to standout.

From my own recruiting experience this year, I had a few near misses before things started converting into offers, and I learnt quickly that generic prep only gets you so far. I want VCPE to help more people skip that trial-and-error phase. VCPE already runs great masterclasses across private equity, venture capital and private credit. I want to keep that core, raise the standard, and shine more light on how broad private markets actually is.

My key priorities as President would be:

Build on the masterclasses. Keep what’s working, tighten quality, and make sessions useful for both beginners and people already recruiting.

Add Real Assets. Build on our links with firms like I Squared and Brookfield and introduce a Real Assets subdivision (infrastructure and real estate) alongside PE, VC and Private Credit.

Interview to offer prep. ChatGPT and online resources can get you to good enough but not standout. I would use Imperial alumni in PE, private credit and restructuring to run focused sessions on modelling, cases, and how to handle real interviews, with feedback that actually improves outcomes.

More events and exposure. More speakers, smaller roundtables, and better signposting of opportunities across private markets.
